Insurance
Business Insurance
From a one-truck contractor to a full restaurant floor.
Most of the businesses we insure started with one person and one truck. We know what a general contractor needs to get on a job site, what a restaurant needs to keep its doors open, and what a certificate of insurance has to say before a general contractor will let you work.
Commercial lines we write
- General liability
- The coverage almost every contract, landlord and job site asks you to carry.
- Business owners package (BOP)
- Liability and property bundled together, usually cheaper than buying them apart.
- Workers compensation
- Required once you have employees. Covers their injuries and your liability for them.
- Commercial auto
- Trucks, vans and vehicles used for work — personal auto policies exclude business use.
- Commercial property
- Your building, equipment, inventory and tools.
- Professional liability
- Claims that your advice or professional work caused someone a financial loss.
- Surety bonds
- License bonds, contractor bonds and the bonds a permit office will ask you for.
- Restaurant & bar
- Liquor liability, spoilage and the exposures a standard BOP will not cover.
Businesses we work with every week
- General contractors, framers, roofers and concrete crews
- Landscaping and cleaning companies
- Restaurants, food trucks, bakeries and bars
- Auto shops, body shops and detailing
- Trucking and delivery operations
- Salons, barbershops and retail storefronts
North Carolina raised its minimums in 2025
Every policy issued or renewed after July 1, 2025 has to carry at least 50/100/50 in liability, with uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage matching. If your premium jumped at renewal, this is usually why.
What North Carolina requiresWe shop these carriers for you
We are an independent agency. We are not tied to one company, so we compare and bring you the best fit.
Carrier names and logos are the property of their respective owners. Availability varies by state and by risk.
Common questions
I need a certificate of insurance today. Can you do that?
Usually yes. If you are already our client, a COI takes minutes. If you are not, we can often quote, bind and issue the certificate the same day — call us rather than emailing so we can move on it.
Do I need workers comp if it is just me?
It depends on the state and your business structure, and general contractors often require it regardless of what the law says. We will tell you what your state requires and what your contracts require, which are not always the same thing.
My personal auto policy covers my work truck, right?
Almost certainly not. Personal auto policies exclude business use, and that exclusion tends to surface at the worst possible moment. If the truck is used for work, it needs commercial auto.
What does a surety bond actually do?
It guarantees to a third party — usually a licensing board or a customer — that you will do what you agreed to. It protects them, not you, which surprises a lot of people. We can write the common license and contractor bonds.
What our clients say
4.9 · 301+ Google reviews
“This place is fantastic. They found me a much better rate than what I was paying and actually took the time to explain what each part of the policy meant.”
“I needed a certificate of insurance the same morning to start a job and they had it to me within the hour. They have handled my taxes for three years now too.”
“My rate went up at renewal and nobody at my old company could tell me why. These folks shopped it and put me with a different carrier for less than I was paying before.”
